Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters

IT Club is designed to provide practical business technology information while collecting as little personal information as reasonably necessary.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and the choices available to you.

Who we are

IT Club is a UK business technology information platform operated by Altitude United Ltd. ITClub.work provides practical, vendor-neutral articles, guides, resources, reviews, briefings and the IT Club Advisor.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through ITClub.work, why we use it, who may process it and the choices available to you.

Information you provide

Most of ITClub.work can be read without creating an account or providing personal information. If you use a form or contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide.

  • Ask the IT Club Advisor: your name, business name, email address, question category, question text and the consent or preferences selected on the form.
  • Newsletter or briefing sign-up: your email address and the consent recorded with that sign-up.
  • Other enquiries: the contact details and message contents you decide to send.

The IT Club Advisor

We use Advisor information to receive and respond to your question, administer the complimentary Advisor service, prevent abuse and apply the fair-use limits described in our Terms of Service. We may keep a record where reasonably necessary to operate the service, handle follow-up correspondence or meet legal obligations.

Please do not include passwords, access codes, special-category information or confidential business information unless it is necessary to explain your question. The Advisor is an educational service and is not a substitute for organisation-specific professional advice.

Questions published anonymously

Questions are not automatically published with your identity. The Advisor form has a separate checkbox asking whether you are happy for IT Club to answer the question publicly in anonymised form. We only use that publication route where the relevant consent has been selected.

Before publication, identifying details should be removed. We may edit a question for clarity or safety, and we will not intentionally publish your name, email address or business name with the public answer. You should still avoid including confidential or sensitive business information in the question.

Optional communications

The Advisor form and newsletter sign-up may include a separate, optional consent to receive occasional communications from IT Club. This can include updates, briefings and practical technology content. Sending an Advisor question is not conditional on agreeing to marketing communications.

You can withdraw this consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a communication or by contacting us through the Ask the IT Club Advisor page. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully before you withdrew consent.

How we use information and our lawful bases

We use information to provide the service you request, respond to enquiries, send communications where you have asked for them, keep the website secure, prevent misuse, improve the website and comply with legal obligations.

Depending on the activity, the lawful basis may be taking steps at your request, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the platform, your consent for optional communications or analytics, or a legal obligation. The appropriate basis depends on the specific processing, and this policy does not turn optional analytics into a necessary service.

Google Analytics

With your consent, IT Club uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website and how people engage with its content. Analytics is optional and is intended to be enabled only after you accept analytics cookies or storage through the cookie notice.

Google is a separate third-party service provider. IT Club does not intentionally send form names, email addresses, telephone numbers, business names, question text or payment details as analytics event data. You can change your analytics choice using Cookie Settings. See the separate Cookie Policy for the known storage mechanisms and the current withdrawal limitation.

Other providers and external destinations

The website uses service providers where needed to operate its features. Resend processes email delivery for Advisor and newsletter submissions through the website’s server. The website also embeds a Cyber Essentials certificate widget from Blockmark Tech. Google Fonts may be requested by the site’s styles.

Links to WhatsApp, Monzo, Microsoft, security tools, Replit and other external websites are normally opened only after you choose to click them. Those websites then apply their own privacy notices. IT Club does not send your form information to an external link provider merely because the link is displayed.

Some recommendations may use affiliate links. Where an affiliate relationship exists, it will be disclosed alongside the relevant recommendation. IT Club may receive a commission if you buy through an affiliate link; this normally does not change the price you pay.

Voluntary coffee payments

The Buy us a Coffee feature is optional. Selecting a contribution amount redirects you to Monzo’s website. IT Club does not collect your card or bank details through ITClub.work, and Monzo’s own privacy terms apply once you leave the site. A contribution is not required to use the Advisor or read the website.

Retention and security

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to administer the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, maintain appropriate business records or meet legal obligations. Specific retention periods for each category are still being documented and may depend on the operational context.

We use proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal conditions and exceptions, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, or portability where applicable. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, contact IT Club through the Ask the IT Club Advisor page and mark the request for privacy. We may need enough information to verify your identity and may ask for clarification. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we handle your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website, providers or processing change. The date at the top shows when this version was last updated. We will not describe a service as being used if it is not part of the current IT Club implementation.
